Skin Care Basics
Most experts agree that a daily skin care routine involving at least a cleanser and moisturizer can go a long way in restoring and maintaining your skin. Cleansers are different than soaps because they are gentler on your skin. They do not strip away essential oils that your skin needs to stay young looking. Moisturizers are applied after the cleanser. They are designed to hydrate and nourish one"s skin with multiple vitamins and antioxidants. In recent years, much attention has been paid to the safety of the ingredients that go into skin care products. Numerous synthetic chemicals, such as parabens or  1,4-dioxane, have been known to cause a variety of health problems, from skin irritation to cancer.  Products that use natural, environmentally friendly ingredients and that avoid animal testing are among the safest to use.  Such ingredients provide natural absorption and pigmentation plus stabilize antioxidants organically.
If you want to make the most of your skin care products, make sure you"re doing the other things that help prevent skin damage and keep skin healthy. These include drinking lots of water, using sunscreen, and staying healthy by exercising and eating right. Although some cosmetics today include sunscreen as an ingredient, they do little to lower the risk of sunburn when exposed to continuous direct sunlight, say at the beach or pool. Â Â
